concerning this 4th project, i forsee a great deal of effort being required. my group has decided to focus on the problem of what to do with an empty stansbury hall next semester. our ultimate conclusion will be that the building should be destroyed in order to make room for parking. concerning the historic significance of the basketball court, we believe the floor should be removed and portions should be made available to willing collectors as well as to the basketball team's "shrine" in the colesium. we do not believe that the significance of the basketball court outweighs the need for space nor the deplorable condition of stansbury hall. also, we have all agreed that the river should be drained and refilled with beer. that is all. thank you

so this is my last required entry for class. my 3rd project is done and available for viewing on my homepage. my band has a gig tonight at fuel, i'm not really looking forward to it because i am really super tired of playing there. last night i just stayed in, watched tv, listened to music and amy and i had a bottle of vodka. i didnt wake up until 1:00, but then again class was canceled so i didn't have anywhere to be. i hope the weather gets better soon, i am really sick of the cold. peace

so i had a lot of wine last night. i bought my girlfriend a big bottle of it for easter and we drank it while we watched shaun of the dead. she had never seen it and argued with me about not wanting to see it but i finally won out. she watched it and actually really liked it and then i drunkly said "i told you so" and she laughed and we carried on like wino baffoons and my roomates laughed at us. this new arctic monkeys album just keeps getting better. take the song "flourescent adolescent" for instance:

"you used to get it in your fish nets, now you only get it in your night dress, discarded all the naughty nights for niceness, landed in a very common crisis!"

so wow, this sucked: i must have set my alarm clock all wrong because i did not go off this morning and consequently i missed my only two classes of the day, at 9:30 and 10:30. oh well though, i have A's in both of those classes. that new arctic monkeys album is sweet! listen to it. my band plays two shows this week, both at fuel, BAH, on thursday and friday. check it out on the myspace. my beloved cleveland indians had their whole series with seattle snowed out over the weekend, which is a total drag because now they are moving their next home series to milwaukee where there is a retractable roof. i hope this is not a terrible omen for their season. anyhow, im going to go eat some eggs and watch shaun of the dead. peace

so i worked pretty much all weekend on this third project and i think that i've come pretty close to being finished with it. it's pretty simple looking but hopefully it fulfills the basic requirements. anyhow, my roommates had a party last night and it was fun for a minute, then turned out to be basically lame because of a few bad apples in the bunch. some guy was babbling about the master race and i finally had to give him a history based checking. then today i downloaded the new arctic monkeys album online, even though it doesn't come out until april 23rd. now of course this is illegal, but hey, i'll go buy it when it comes out. take a look at my project and learn all about my band. so my band, the getaway, played at 123 pleasant street last night with one foot in the gravy and the myth of est. it was fantastic. we got a really nice reception, especially from the other 2 bands and it looks as though we may finally have our foot in the door at 123, a place that is notorious for being owned and operated by clicky artsy kids. however, its really important to play there because of the enormous value it has when it comes to press and getting your name out. also they have kick ass sound equipment and pretty lights. so after our set we all came home and ordered a fat bitch from are u hungry and amy fell asleep in bed while two of my roommates and i watched the x files, for some reason. in related news, my band also has confirmed a gig in pittsburgh at a place called the BBT, a tavern. we will be there on june 30th. things just keep getting crazier for us, and i love it.

i cannot even believe that it snowed today. and its not that it just snowed, its that it was a wizard of oz style out of nowhere spring blizzard for the ages. i had to walk from south park, covered in snow. so my band is playing at 123 tonight, which is exciting because i haven't played there in a very long time. our show in pittsburgh last window was awesome. i have to get moving on this project 3 stuff. peace.

Seeing as my site is pretty much about my band, i will tell people that the site is going to be about my band. my purpose is simple: to achieve a nice grade on project 3 for my english 303 class and to get the word out about my band so that i might get people to listen to our music. i will say that it started out as a very raw, text only website for my first project. the text itself, which already exists, will take another approach to tackling the word history by discussing the actual history of the band itself. i will follow my professor's suggestion when including my contact information, because spam is a drag. make sure to take a look at my homepage which now includes a spiffy animation.

What to Expect: Lots and lots of information about my band; how we started, who are the members, what and who our influences are, and a detailed song by song breakdown of our soon to be finished very first EP.

Purpose and History: again, to achieve a good grade for my project 3 assignement in English 303 and to get the word out about my band. I am michael l withrow, a senior history major at WVU and founding member of the local band The Getaway. i like music, television, cigarettes, warm weather, and cake. i have a girlfriend named amy who is way better than the last girlfriend i had. i do not like olives or dog shit on the southpark bridge.

i cannot wait to get home and make a turkey sandwich. then i have to go record nick's drum tracks. but its ok because there will be free beer.

Things and stuff to do

In order to extend my website, which is about my band, I have decided to, in coordinance with the soon to be conclusion of the recording of our first EP, give a song by song description and story. That is to say that I am going to add a new page dedicated solely to this new EP and then I am going to explain how each song was written, what each's influence and inspiration is and my overall feeling about the quality of the song. I am excited to being posting pictures on this website because I have literally hundreds of pictures that have been taken of us since we have formed, nearly all of them from Fuel of course because we are trapped there. However, I am excited to announce that we will be playing at the ThunderBird Cafe in Pittsburgh on March 31st and at 123 Pleasant St on April 5th. So we are finally making strides towards getting out of our unofficial contract with Bob and his Bob bar. Which brings up another idea: I would like to, if i have time, add an upcoming shows bulletin to my website. I already have a reference on the homepage to our myspace page which has such a bulletin, but why not have another. In conclusion, listen to the new Modest Mouse album because it is awesome, and make sure to give our EP a listen as soon as it is posted on myspace, which should be no later that just after spring break. I am hungry, that is all.

st. patrick's day was complete nonsense. i was a victim of roomate inconsideration, sleep deprivation, intoxication and vandalism. i am glad that stupid holiday is over. my band has been recording our 5 track EP all weekend and we hope to have it available just after spring break. when we open for one foot in the gravy april 5th at 123 pleasant street we will be selling it for a very fair price, and the only reason it will not be free is because we have to eat. but then again, today my bass player kyle and i went to taco bell in westover and the cashier gave us 41 coupons for free tacos. that equals 41 free tacos! i'll have another mandatory post up soon. peace.

today it is about a million degrees. but that has nothing to do with this third project for English 303. apparently we will have to greatly elaborate on our originial index homepage that we created at the very beginning of the semester. we will have to include some pictures, which could either be a great deal of fun or a gigantical hassle. since my site is about my band, i will probably discuss our influences, style, direction and general happening in more detail. after this assignment is complete, i expect i will be much more skilled at creating detailed websites. looking forward to it, chap.
